Name changes of Latino journal Belcher, Wendy 15 Dec 2005 23:51 UTC

Some librarians have had trouble tracking all the changes our journal and press have gone through over the years so I thought I would send a notice to you all.

Aztlan: A Journal of Chicano Studies has been around for thirty-five years, the journal of record in the field. It's previous names have been Aztlán: Chicano Journal of the Social Sciences and the Arts (1970-1974) and Aztlán: International Journal of Chicano Studies Research (1975-1985). The current name is Aztlan: A Journal of Chicano Studies (1986-). We prefer for the whole name to be used, as the word Aztlan on its own is not informative to some.

The UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center Press has also been around for thirty-five years, publishing the journal as well as books, policy briefs, research reports, reference guides, DVDs, and newsletters. Previous names of the press have been Aztlán Publications (1970); Chicano Studies Center-Publications, UCLA (1971-1979); Chicano Studies Research Center Publications, UCLA (1980-1992); UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center Publications (1992-2002). The current name is UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center Press (2003-). We sometimes refer to it internally as the CSRC Press, but this is never used in official publication data.

For more information, please see http://www.chicano.ucla.edu/press. I have placed the above information there as well. If you have any questions, please email me. For instance, some book series have been closed and others have been opened.
