Serials Cataloger/Project Manager for KSU Libraries
K-State Libraries is accepting applications for a Serials
Cataloger responsible for management of a major serials
retrospective conversion project at the Libraries' annex.  The
individual in this position will be part of the Libraries'
Shared Storage Team and will report to the Head of the
Cataloging & Serials Department.  Responsibilities include:
coordinating catalogers' schedules for the annex project,
automating processes, identifying ways to streamline workflows,
cataloging and/or recataloging of serials in all formats and
languages (mainly western European), and serving as a primary
troubleshooter for serials cataloging and linking activities as
part of the annex project.  The cataloger will work in
conjunction with the annex site manager, the Shared Storage
project manager, and the Serials Manager.  The cataloger will
also assist in the cataloging and troubleshooting of the
Libraries' electronic resources.  Salary will be commensurate
with experience but not less than $40,000 annually.  Rank will
be at the instructor level.  This is a term position,
anticipated to renew annually for a minimum of two years.  Core
Position Duties Coordinates serials cataloging and linking
activities of 15 or more staff as part of the Shared Storage
Team.  Maintains overall responsibility for workflow,
procedures, and output related to serials cataloging and linking
activities at the annex. Works collaboratively with catalogers
and members of the Shared Storage Team to provide timely
communication concerning needs, workflows, and progress.
Catalogs and/or recatalogs serials in all formats and languages.
 Performs database maintenance.  Troubleshoots electronic
resources access problems. Educational Requirements  MLS from
ALA accredited institution or equivalent Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years serials cataloging experience using an
integrated library system; experience with OCLC; knowledge of
MARC format and AACR2, ability to work with colleagues in
collaborative and team environments as well as independently;
evidence of problem-solving skills; excellent oral and written
communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Supervisory and
managerial skills; project management experience; experience
cataloging electronic resources; experience troubleshooting
access problems to electronic resources; experience with
bibliographic utilities, the World Wide Web. Personal Attributes
