HEAD OF SERIALS, Technical Services, The Getty Research Institute

The Getty Research Library seeks a Head of Serials. This position manages the centralized acquisitions  activities and cataloging of all serials and auction sales catalogs, in all formats and languages, including special collections materials.  Supervises 2 catalogers and 5 Library Assistants.  Ensures proper fiscal oversight and coordination between the library Voyager system and the Peoplesoft 8 accounting system.  Collaborates with the Collection Development Department, Bibliographer,  Research Services and Getty Conservation Institute staff on acquisitions of current and retrospective titles.  Monitors and evaluates vendor performance.  Evaluates current acquisitions and cataloging policies and procedures and makes recommendations in response to changing technology. Participates in team management of Technical Services. Maintains professional awareness of issues and trends in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS: 	ALA-accredited MLS degree and undergraduate degree in art history or related discipline, or demonstrated supervisory skills and successful experience in staff training; flexibility, imagination and ability to communicate effectively; 3-4 years professional experience in serials  acquisitions and cataloging in progressively more responsible positions; knowledge of AACR2, RDA, CONSER,  MARC, and RLIN or OCLC; 2-3 years supervisory experience. Reading knowledge of 2 foreign languages and experience with Voyager system is preferred.
