Reporting to the Assistant Director of Resource Management, the Special
Formats Cataloger is responsible for providing complex copy and original
cataloging for material in a variety of formats including, but not
limited to, media and electronic resources, using MARC21, AACR2,
LCCS/LCSH, OCLC, and the Voyager integrated library system. Develops
and implements standards and procedures for emerging formats, including
metadata. Participates in departmental planning and projects, the User
Education and Collection Development programs. Salary range begins at
$44,245.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS; demonstrated
knowledge of standard cataloging tools; experience with an integrated
library system (Voyager preferred); familiarity with established and
emerging metadata standards; excellent analytical, communication and
interpersonal skills. PREFERRED: Cataloging experience, especially in
special formats, web-authoring experience.
