POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Coordinator of Technical Services, McConnell Library, Radford University

Radford University seeks an accomplished, customer service oriented, and
enthusiastic Coordinator to provide creative leadership and vision for
the Technical Services Department, which consists of two library faculty
and six support staff responsible for acquisitions, cataloging,
processing and stacks maintenance services. Responsibilities include
supervising staff; developing and evaluating services, policies and
procedures; planning and goal-setting; preparing reports; participating
in the library's collection development program; and working with other
librarians on overall maintenance of the materials budget. The
Coordinator serves as a member of the Library Administrative Council and
assists in the formulation of library-wide policies and objectives, as
well as in the planning, development, and evaluation of library services
and programs. Position reports to the University Librarian.

Library faculty are twelve-month, non-tenured professional faculty with
academic rank and responsibilities for collection development,
university service, and professional development/contributions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:  ALA-accredited Masters in Library/Information Science.
Substantial professional experience in acquisitions, serials, or
cataloging, preferably in an academic library. Experience in supervising
staff. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity
with library technology and integrated library systems.

Preferred: Experience in managing budgets. Familiarity  with the
publishing industry. Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to change. Demonstrated successful
leadership skills.
