Hi Marilyn,
What ILS do you use? Most of them have routing functionality where you
can link users to a title and then print out routing slips as you check
issues in. Also, you can typically set the status of that issue as being
routed so users and staff know that the issue isn't available on the
shelf.

We route some of our journals and magazine to selected
instructors/department heads/administrators. This is done by writing
the journal title and the name of the recipient on small routing slips
that we have created. We're looking for a way to improve our routing
slips. I realize that some libraries create their routing slips
electronically. Does anyone else create them by hand and if so, can you
email me an example or offer any suggestions?
