I've brought up the idea of letting my library's magazines and journals
leave the building.  Other librarians look at me in horror, and say oh no,
we can't do that!  But since I notice very little demand for our print
subscriptions within the building, I haven't argued the case very strongly.

It would be easy for my library to start circulating the periodicals, since
everything is barcoded for inventory purposes.  If I perceived a desire
from the students and faculty to take the journals back to their dorms or
offices, I would take up the fight.  Have the rest of you found an increase
in the use of your print periodical collections when you start allowing
them circulate?
