Dear Colleagues,
This is a call for participation in a survey Providing Access to Electronic
Journals in Academic Libraries: A General Survey. The purpose of this survey
is to determine how academic libraries are providing access to electronic
journals within the changing bibliographic universe that now includes tools
such as OpenURL link resolvers, Google Scholar and metasearch tools. The
survey is intended as an environmental scan focussing on the different ways
access to electronic journals is provided and how these practices may have
changed.
The intended audience for the survey is academic libraries. The survey should
be completed by the person or persons responsible for cataloguing or providing
access to electronic journals within the library.
The survey will be available online until November 1st, 2005. Participation
in the survey is voluntary and responding to the questionnaire will be
considered consent to participate. All information submitted will be
anonymous; no personal or institutional information will be collected. The
results of this survey will be published sometime in 2006, with publication
information being posted to this list, along with a brief summary of the
results. The Joint-Faculty Research Ethics Board of the University of
Manitoba has approved this research; should participants have any concerns or
complaints about the project they may contact the Human Ethics Coordinator at
204-474-7122.
The survey consists of 30 questions and is available at
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=991291402504. It will take
approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Thank you,
