On behalf of the North American Serials Interest Group (NASIG) Program Planning Committee:

In preparation for the NASIG 2006 Annual Conference to
be held May 4-7, 2006 at the Denver Marriott City Center,
Denver Colorado, the Program Planning Committee is issuing
a final targeted call for proposals. After reviewing the
proposals we have received from the previous calls trying
to identify elements of a comprehensive program, the
Committee is interested in proposals that address the
following topics:

   FRBR
Open content alliance (Yahoo's version of GooglePrint)
and Google print - a comparison, a discussion of how
      they impact libraries'
The idea of seriality in cataloging (including MARC
      content designation utilization (see www.mcdu.unt.edu)
         - an update, how it may impact serials cataloging;
as well as an update from the Access Level Record
           Serials Working Group)
   Personnel Management
Recruitment of Serials Librarians and staff
   Binding in a digital world
Locally produced digital content and the serials
      librarian
Creating connections between e-resources, the catalog,
and the patron: strategies and workflows.
Podcasts, wikis and blogs in the library and whether to
      catalog, and or provide access.
   Metadata – beyond MARC

The program Planning Committee will review all submitted
proposals for their content, timeliness and relevance to
the conference theme and reserves the right to combine,
blend or refocus proposals to maximize their relevance and
to avoid duplication. In addition, the Committee will treat
all submissions as suggestions and guideposts. Time
management issues and reimbursement guidelines generally
limit each session to 2 speakers. Also note that proposals
may be suggested as one type of session and/or format and
ultimately be accepted as any one of the other types of
sessions and formats; this decision is the purview of the
Program Planning Committee. Submission deadline is 5 PM EST
Friday, November 4th, 2005.
