Eligibility Requirements
ALA-accredited  Master's  degree  in  Library  and  Information Studies and
relevant  professional  experience  in  a large research library or similar
institution.   Undergraduate  degree  in  science  or  business  preferred.
Successfully   demonstrated  experience  supervising  and  training  staff.
Successfully demonstrated cataloging experience.  Successfully demonstrated
experience  using  Integrated Library systems and cataloging utilities in a
cataloging  or  processing environment.  Successfully demonstrated computer
skills,  including  Microsoft  Word  and  Excel,  OCLC  Connexion,  RLIN21,
Dreamweaver,  and  on-line databases.  Successfully demonstrated experience
working with government documents preferred.  Knowledge of western European
languages preferred.

General Description
Under  the  general  supervision  of  the  Head  of  Technical  Processing,
processes  Science  and  Business materials, including serials and U.S. and
other government documents.  Performs searches on OCLC Connexion and RLIN21
and  catalogs  and  maintains  online  records,  including quality control,
revision,  and  trouble  shooting.  Processes cessations, title changes and
relocations  to  stacks  and open shelves.  Catalogs, maintains and updates
SIBL's  open  shelf  collections.   Trains  and supervises technical staff.
Participates  in  preservation  projects.  Maintains departmental home page
and  procedure  manual.   Works with Collection Development staff in making
catalog  decisions.   Acts as a liaison with Cataloging, Acquisitions, SIBL
Access  and  other  SIBL  units.   Assists  the  public with both print and
electronic  resources  in science and business. Works at information desks,
telephone  reference  and  in  the  electronic  resources center.  Presents
instructional  classes  for the public on the use of the library resources.
Participates  in  SIBL  teams, task forces and committees. Performs related
duties as required.
