DESCRIPTION: The UCSD Libraries Acquisitions' Department seeks a new
member for our dynamic and innovative team. We are seeking a proactive and
enthusiastic individual to support the high standards of our Serials &
Electronic Resources Division. Incumbent is responsible for the management
of all UCSD libraries subscription and standing order accounts with the
UCSD Science Libraries' main continuation vendor and communicates
extensively with publishers and vendors. Establishes and monitors access
to electronic resources for locally licensed electronic resources for UCSD
Libraries. Activates and edits UC-Elinks (SFX linking for locally licensed
resources). Coordinates with Metadata Services to add and maintain links
to electronic resources in the UCSD catalog and Sage (UCSD Library's
Electronic Resource web database). Researches and troubleshoots reports of
unavailability of online access. Serves as serials acquisitions liaison
for Science Cluster bibliographers and technical staff regarding all
traditional format continuations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience working with serials and electronic resources acquisition or
access, preferably in a library environment.
* Knowledge of access mechanisms for electronic information formats.
* Demonstrated problem-solving skills to resolve multi-faceted problems
and develop/implement solutions.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills including diplomacy, flexibility and
tact in dealing with a variety of people.
* Ability to communicate courteously, effectively, and persuasively in
person, in writing and by telephone.
* Demonstrated experience using Excel and/or Access to manage and
manipulate data. Ability to create and use spreadsheets, graphs and
reports to gather, analyze and communicate information.

PREFERRED:

* Working knowledge of the Innovative Interfaces Inc. (III) integrated
library system, especially the Millennium Serials Module and the
Electronic Resources Module (ERM). Knowledge of SFX or similar linking
technologies used in an Electronic library environment.
* Training or presentation skills.
