Re: Combining Materials Acquisition & Cataloging Departments Larmore, Dustin 12 Aug 2005 13:40 UTC

We use "Technical Services" but I am thinking of changing it to "Acquisitions & Cataloging" because, on this campus, everyone thinks that my department handles technical issues dealing with students' leased tablet PCs (which we do not).

The problem is fitting "Cataloging & Acquisitions" on the standards signs that we order.

My job title will not change. That would take an administrative procedure above the library's control, and I don't feel like dealing with it that much.

We are in the process of literally knocking down the walls and combining the Materials Acquisition and Cataloging departments and making one department.

What are some of the names that some of you are using to call this combined department?

Right now, we're using Technical Services, but we would like to use something else.

Until the mess is over and they move my desk, I'm still using my old name--Acquisitions!
