Ingenta: not so bad after all. Susan Wishnetsky 01 Jul 2005 18:24 UTC

In an earlier posting, I complained about the "user-unfriendliness" of
IngentaConnect. But when I tried it out at the Ingenta booth at ALA,
with virtually no prompting, I have to admit I had no trouble at all.
I may have been experiencing some transient problems (either with
the system or with my brain) when I sent my earlier message.

There are still some things an administrator can't do without help from
Ingenta folks (such as "claim" current issues if one is wrongly cut off
and only has access to backfiles), but Ingenta is aware of this; they
say they're trying to find ways to allow administrators to do more.

So, don't believe my earlier message. I'm still no big Ingenta-booster,
but I can't support my earlier criticism anymore. I eat my words. SW
