Electronic Resources Coordinator at Georgia Tech

The Georgia Tech Library and Information Center invites applications for
an energetic, flexible, and innovative professional to serve as its
Electronic Resources Coordinator. The Georgia Institute of Technology,
with nearly 20,000 faculty, students, and staff, is one of the nation's
outstanding universities and a leading center for research and
technological development, with nationally recognized programs in science
and engineering. The Library and Information Center
<http://www.library.gatech.edu/>, a member of the Association of Research
Libraries, is central to the Institute's curricular and research programs.
The Library, with the full support of Georgia Tech's faculty, is moving
aggressively to deliver electronically the wealth of information resources
it makes available to students, faculty, and staff.

Reporting to the Head, Information Procurement Department, the Electronic
Resources Coordinator position offers an opportunity for an assertive,
experienced librarian to provide leadership in shaping acquisitions in an
increasingly digital world. The Coordinator will: execute license
agreements for electronic resources and lead vendor / publisher contact in
licensing negotiations; assist the Department Head with the library's
agenda in using emerging technologies and new approaches in acquisitions
work, including SFX and a new e-resource management software application.
Develop new policies, procedures, and operations to improve the management
of electronic resources; and demonstrate successful supervisory experience
with a commitment to staff training. The Coordinator will also collaborate
closely with the Collection Development Department to facilitate the
identification, selection, and fiscal control of information resources.

More specifically, the Electronic Resources Coordinator manages and
coordinates the licensing, ordering and renewal of electronic resources.
Maintains license agreements and related files and assures ready and
current access.  Serves as departmental liaison with other departments to
ensure public access and record maintenance (Cataloging, Collection
Development, Systems, Information Services, etc.).  Updates and maintains
linking capabilities among electronic resources, including any link
resolver software (such as SFX).  Maintains library databases for tracking
and disseminating information regarding electronic resources.  Maintains
currency in emerging issues in the acquisition of electronic resources.
Fosters and supports a collaborative, inter-departmental approach to
problem solving and decision making, with emphasis on facilitating and
providing electronic resources. The Information Procurement Department is
comprised of one department head, two librarians and 11 support staff.
Currently, the Electronic Resources area includes the Coordinator
position, a library associate (exempt), and a library assistant III.

Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or other relevant degree with a minimum
of three years experience in an academic setting. Demonstrated experience
in the acquisition of electronic resources and negotiation of electronic
resource licenses, with experience preferably in an academic consortium as
well. Experience in the technical procedures of acquiring and processing
serials, databases, and e-resources. Knowledge of or experience with newer
library technologies such as link resolving software (Ex Libris SFX) is
desirable. Experience in supervising, training, and organizing the work of
other staff, preferably regarding the licensing, acquisitions, and
administrative management of information resources. Demonstrated
experience working with vendors of information resources. Working
experience with an integrated library system, preferably Endeavor Voyager.
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong
analytical, team-building, and problem-solving skills required.

Salary: Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and experience.
The minimum salary for this position is $45,000.00
