Common enough. Your leverage depends upon when exactly the order (&
payment) was placed and your tenacity.

Go ahead, think evil thoughts about a certain publisher. Might as well
get what little enjoyment you can out of the situation ;-) It also
helps with the tenacity part.

Anna,

It all depends on frequency of that particular serial and if publisher has
claiming restrictions or not but I feel your pain, it has happen to us too.
Unfortunately publishers do not pay much attention to the fact is it a new
subscription or just a regular renewal. I wish they did though.

No, not uncommon... It all depends upon when the order and claim were
made. A lot of journals have a 3 mo. claim limit, so you have to be
quick.

My library subscribed to a new title begining with the 2005 volume. We
had not received the first two issues, although they were published, so
my claims clerk claimed them. While the publisher will be sending us
the second issue, they will not send us the first unless we pay for the
replacement copy. Does this seem a bit unreasonable, particularly
considering that this is a new subscription and should have started with
the first issue of the 2005 volume? Is this a common occurance?

Trying not to think evil thoughts about a certain publisher...

Anna
