Konstantin,
NSDP staff are always available to correct ISSN problems on OCLC records
if such problems are brought to my attention or sent to NSDP's ISSN
mailbox: issn@loc.gov.
The issue you raise here, however, is a broader issue than correcting
incorrect ISSN information. Subfield y in field 022 is defined for
"incorrect ISSN that has been associated with the serial." The incorrect
ISSN (even if unrelated) could have been printed on the serial, could have
been given to the publisher by mistake, could have appeared in a
publication such as New Serial Titles, etc. These are all valid uses of
022 subfield y which can provide access to the correct record even when an
incorrect ISSN has been attributed in some source to the serial.
In order to get a better idea of exactly how Serials Solutions is using
data in 022 subfield y, I will contact SS and get back to you and the list
about the broader issue you have raised. In the meantime, I would request
that information in that record's subfield y not be deleted. Thanks!
