Electronic Resources Librarian

The Thurgood Marshall Law Library of the University of Maryland School of
Law is seeking an individual with a high level of technical competence and
strong communication skills to provide services to members of the law school
community and to manage the law library’s expanding collection of electronic
resources. The Law Library, located on the campus of the University of
Maryland Baltimore, is a vibrant institution dedicated to supporting the
research and scholarship of the faculty and students of the School of Law.
The library staff is committed to exploring and implementing innovative
technological solutions that promote and enhance services to faculty and
students.

Responsibilities:
Working in a collaborative environment, the successful candidate will play a
leadership role in all aspects of organizing and providing access to
electronic resources, including negotiating and tracking license agreements,
arranging trials for new services, serving as the library’s representative
on university-system wide committees, and providing support for new and on-
going digital initiatives such as the development of an institutional
repository. The individual in this position will participate in the
provision of general reference service.  Opportunities for teaching may also
be available for J.D. candidates.

Required:
ALA accredited MLS (or equivalent) and a minimum of one year of related
professional experience; demonstrated experience with information technology
and familiarity with the management of electronic resources; excellent oral
and written communication skills; strong service orientation; and a
commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

Preferred:
J.D. or law library experience.

Salary is competitive and is commensurate with qualifications and

Other:
The position is a 12-month library faculty appointment at the rank of
Librarian I or II.     The successful candidate will be expected to meet
library and university requirements for permanent status and promotion.
