The Serials and Electronic Resource Acquisitions Coordinator position at
Johns
Hopkins University offers an opportunity for an assertive,
experienced, and innovative manager
to provide vision and leadership in redefining the procurement and
management of serials and electronic resources in an evolving
information environment. This position will lead the Unit to use
emerging technologies and implement new approaches in acquiring and
managing print serials and electronic resources; make effective use of
the acquisitions, serials, and e-resource management modules of the
integrated library system; monitor ordering, check-in and resolution
of bibliographic and fulfillment problems; oversee vendor contact,
negotiations, and licensing to secure products and services; oversee the
expenditure of a serials & electronic resource acquisitions budget of
over $7,000,000; coordinate serial binding policies and practices with
the Preservation Department; develop new policies, procedures, and
operations to further integrate the management of physical and virtual
collections; coordinate management of current periodicals areas;
maximize the use of technology in collecting and reporting of
acquisitions data which include a diverse group of physical and
electronic resources; collaborate closely with the Collection
Development Coordinator to facilitate the identification, selection, and
fiscal control of serials and electronic resources. The staff is
comprised of one electronic resources librarian, a print serials
supervisor, 5.75 support staff, and two FTE student hours. Reporting to
the Head of Technical Services, this position is part of the Technical
Services management team which coordinates departmental policies,

Qualifications
Required: ALA-accredited MLS; serials acquisitions experience;
demonstrated experience in budget management; knowledge of the
purchasing, licensing and acquisitions processing of electronic
resources;
supervisory experience with a commitment to staff mentoring and
training; ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines; strong
commitment to enhancing service through teamwork and a proactive
approach to faculty and student services; demonstrated experience
working with vendors of information resources; experience with an
integrated library system and a bibliographic utility (OCLC or RLIN);
excellent written and oral communication skills; strong analytical, and
problem-solving skills; flexibility and initiative in carrying out
assignments in a changing environment; commitment to professional growth
and development.
Preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years of serials
acquisitions experience in a large academic or public library. Visit
