The Department of Library Science at Clarion University of Pennsylvania
seeks qualified individuals to teach courses in its ALA-accredited graduate
degree program during the 2005/2006 academic year. Clarion delivers
courses in its ALA-accredited graduate program over the World Wide Web, via
interactive video, and by on-site instruction at two distance education
sites in Philadelphia and Harrisburg. This is a full-time temporary
9-month position; a contract for summer employment may also be available.
Appointment will be made at the instructor or assistant professor rank,
depending on qualifications.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach three courses per semester
as well as provide support and guidance for the department's rapidly
growing distance education sites in Philadelphia and Harrisburg; this
includes assisting with outreach and recruitment activities. The
successful applicant must have a valid driver's license and be willing to
travel.
Minimum qualifications include at least an ALA-accredited master's degree
(or recognized international equivalent), professional library and/or
teaching experience, and excellent written and oral communication skills,
including evidence of public speaking ability. The completion of a
successful interview is also required.
