I would have thought publishers would also be extremely interested to see
'what's indexed where' presented in this way, even though they presumably
(?) know for their own journals

Subject: [SERIALST] Service idea...opinions please...

HI All,

I am the Electronic Resources Librarian here at Montana State
University.
I would like to get your opinions on an idea for a service that I have.
Maybe a vendor is already providing this service of which I am not aware
so I thought I would ask those of you in collection development of
serials:

For collection analysis, I would like to find out if all of my
subscribed journals (excluding aggregator FT titles)
are indexed in at least one of the online indexing databases to which we
subscribe.
I'd like to know where my indexing gaps are in covering my subscribed
journals.

Rationale:
With the use of my link resolver, potentially all of my journals -
both print and online are "findable" through an online index. But I want
to make
sure all of my journals are indexed within the indexing databases to
which we subscribe.

Is this a service that other libraries would be interested in?
Is this already being done by a vendor or through a local library's own
Systems Dept
efforts?
Please reply to the whole list.
Thanks in advance for your input.
