Bowker/Ulrichs Serials Librarianship Award Announcement John Radencich 04 Feb 2005 15:50 UTC

Dan Tonkery is the 2005 recipient of the Bowker/Ulrichs Serials
Librarianship Award. The award is given in recognition of
"distinguished contributions to serials librarianship." Dan typifies
the spirit of the award as he has a broad range of accomplishments that
spans 35 years as a serials librarian. His first accomplishment was his
involvement in the founding and building of the National Serials Data
Program and CONSER. Following that he spent over 20 years as a serials
vendor for Faxon, EBSCO, and other companies. Dan's devotion to the
world of serials goes far beyond what he accomplishes during his day
job, as he has presented extensively at many library conferences, has
written numerous professional articles, and has edited for the Serials
Review. He has also been extensively involved with professional library
associations, serving on many American Library Association and North
American Serials Interest Group committees. Dan was president of NASIG
for the 1999/2000 term.
The award will be presented at the ALCTS awards ceremony, June 26,
2005, during the American Library Association's Annual Conference in
Chicago. Included in the presentation will be a plaque with citation
and a check for $1500 from the R.R. Bowker Company.
