Hi,

Auraria Library is a member of the Colorado Alliance of Research
Libraries, the developer of Gold Rush. We have been using parts of the
Gold Rush product for several years. Currently we do not use the Gold
Rush subscription module, as we do not have the staffing to maintain
serials information in both our ILS and in Gold Rush. However, the Gold
Rush staff members are receptive to figuring out ways to move
information from your ILS to the Gold Rush subscription module. One of
the strengths of the Gold Rush team is their willingness to make
improvements in the product based on their customer's suggestions.

Do you use the article linker feature? Does it work well?
We have been using the Gold Rush article linker (GR Linker) as our
OpenUrl resolver for several years. It works quite well, provided you
spend the initial time needed to accurately populate the journal lists
and full text journal dates. As far as I can tell, you would need to do
this initial work regardless of which OpenUrl Resolver product you
purchase.

In order to accurately populate the various journal publisher packages
in Gold Rush, we create journal lists from our ILS system (Innovative
Interfaces, Inc.), and send title/issn/lib has information in an excel
spreadsheet format to the Gold Rush staff. They then download the lists
into our Gold Rush admin module, marking the proper journals to which we
have subscriptions. For most of our journal publisher lists, we do this
twice a year.

Can you integrate your paper Journals into Gold RusH? If so, is it
time consuming--how do you integrate items from the OPAC?
You can send them a list of your paper journals on an excel spreadsheet
which they will download into a special local library database, and
consequently these journals will show up in the appropriate GR Linker
results as a link to the bib record in your ILS. Some libraries send
both a paper journals list, and a complete list of all the library's
journal holdings (both print and online).

We create a list of all our active journals in our OPAC, and send
title/issn/lib has in an excel spreadsheet to the Gold Rush staff. They
add this list to Gold Rush as a database called "Auraria Local Library
Journals."

How often are the title lists updated? Is it worth the price?
The title lists for the major aggregators (Gale and Ebsco) are updated
as often as the aggregators update their journal title lists, which can
be quite frequent.
For those title lists that undergo rapid additions, such as BioMed
Central, DOAJ, EBSCO EJS, etc., they update them often, I can't say
exactly how often.
They are very receptive to requests for loading particular title lists
more frequently.

The price for Gold Rush is very modest compared to the other vendors'
ERM products. I feel that for the price, you get quite a nice product.

I'm happy to answer more questions about Gold Rush. We have just
recently gone through an ERM evaluation process, and decided to stay
with Gold Rush.

Subject: [SERIALST] GOLD RUSH: e-journal mgmt system

Hello.

I am reviewing the Gold Rush Electronic Resource Management product and
wondered if anyone in serials land uses this product, and if so could
email me their assessment of the tool? Do you use the article linker
feature? Does it work well? How do you use the reports and which do you
use? Can you integrate your paper Journals into Gold RusH? If so, is it
time consuming--how do you integrate items from the OPAC?

How often are the title lists updated? Is it worth the price?

Any information you might be able to provide would be greatly
appreciated.

Thank you for your time.
