Boise State University seeks a visionary, dynamic, and experienced
leader to guide our University Library (the Albertsons Library) to new
levels of excellence.  The Library Director will work with the campus,
local, and state-wide community to ensure that the Library continues to
meet the growing needs of the university and its mission as a
metropolitan research university of distinction.

University:  Boise State, with an enrollment exceeding 18,000 students,
is a public comprehensive undergraduate and graduate institution that
offers a range of nationally accredited programs including programs at
the doctoral level.  The University is the largest institution in the
Idaho system of higher education, and consists of eight colleges with
approximately 1,700 faculty and staff.

Albertson Library:  The Albertsons Library's mission is to promote
learning and research by acquiring and making available those
informational materials appropriate to the University's mission and by
creating an environment in which faculty and students can interact with
library resources in the pursuit of knowledge. Library resources include
print subscriptions to 4,200 journals and other serials and access to
approximately 19,000 additional journals online, 615,000 books and bound
periodical volumes, 1.4 million pieces of microform, 100,000 maps,
97,000 government documents, 6,000 feet of archives and manuscripts, and
over 132 electronic databases.  There is a state-of-the-art library
instruction room, and the building is fully wired for laptop usage.  For

(16 Librarians, 4 professional, 46 (42.5 FTE) support staff and 50-60
(14.43 FTE) student and temporary employees.  Along with state and local
funding, the Albertsons Library has an endowment of $3.5Million.

Qualifications Required:
        -MLS from an ALA-accredited program (a doctorate preferred);
        -evidence of administrative and supervisory experience in an
academic library;
        -demonstrated ability to maximize internal and external
resources;
-distinguished record of professional achievement that warrants tenure
and appointment to the rank of full professor in the Library.

Effective Date:   Appointment to be effective July 1, 2005

the position is filled.
