Carroll:

We are a private law school in downtown Lansing, Michigan. All of our
current issues of journals are bar coded and kept behind the reserve desk.
They are arranged alphabetically by title, so there is no call number
involved until the bound volume is produced. It certainly controls the
use of the journals. Probably if they were displayed "out in the open"
there would be more loss. We do have coin-operated photocopiers. Many
back issues are now available in full-text through heinonline and Westlaw
and Lexis/Nexis.

Good day,

I would appreciate any advice. And I apologize as I know this has been
discussed previously, but couldn't locate any recent entries in the
archives.
We are going to start charging staff and students for photocopying.
There is concern that due to this change, there may be an increase in
the number of journals disappearing from the library. What solutions
have other libraries come up with to handle this possibility?

Thank you,
Carroll
