Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian

Eastern Kentucky University Libraries seeks a Serials and Electronic
Resources Librarian.  Reporting to the Coordinator of the Systems and
Technical Processing Division, the Serials and Electronic Resources
Librarian is responsible for providing integrated access to serials
resources, both electronic and print, including cataloging and database
maintenance activities.  Related responsibilities consist of the
evaluation and assessment of products and services in relation to
serials management, the resolution of access problems, the collection
and analysis of usage statistics, and the ability to remain current
about emerging technologies in serials cataloging.  Additional
responsibilities include participating in the Library Liaison program,
serving weekly on the reference desk, serving on Library and University
committees, and contributing to the profession through scholarly and
creative activity.

EKU Librarians have faculty status and 12-month contracts.  Salaries are
competitive.  Benefits include tuition waivers, family health care
plans, choice of retirement plans, life insurance, 20 days vacation plus
sick time, and approximately 15 paid university holidays.

Required Qualifications:  An MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited
program; familiarity with an integrated library system (preferably
Endeavor Voyager); excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a
strong desire to learn.

Desired Qualifications:  Current awareness of new trends, standards, and
emerging technologies in serials cataloging; knowledge of AACR2, USMARC,
LCSH, LC Classification, CONSER standards; familiarity with OCLC;
familiarity with SFX or comparable link server; excellent analytical
skills and an aptitude for detail-oriented work; ability to work within
a team environment; knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications;
ability to be flexible in response to changing circumstances.
