ASSOCIATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN: We are seeking nominations/ applications
for the Associate University Librarian.  The successful candidate will help
us shape the future of a growing research library, work collaborately to
build partnerships within and outside the library, and possess the vision
to meet the changing teaching and research needs of the University
Community.  The successful candidate will show evidence of creativity,
initiative and flexibility, the ability to view issues from a broad library
wide perspective, and will be professionally active at the campus, state,
regional and national level. Responsibilities: Reporting to the University
Librarian, the Associate University Librarian provides leadership and
managerial direction in the planning, developing and administering of
research and instruction services, distance learning, digital services, and
bibliographic services. S/he works collaborately with the senior
administrative team on policy and service issues affecting all functional
areas, budget allocations, human resources, development of
programs/services, space planning, fund raising and development. The AUL
directly supervises Access Services (including two branch libraries)
Bibliographic Services and Reference/ Research Services.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA accredited MLS; extensive library management
experience with significant administrative, budget and personnel
experience; evidence of competence in strategic planning, managing change,
budget planning, space planning and project management; broad, in depth
knowledge of technical and public service trends and developments in
academic libraries; knowledge of current trends in scholarly communication
and emerging information technology; evidence of effective leadership and
decision making ability and ability to create and foster a team
environment; evidence of professional contributions at all levels; strong
communication and interpersonal skills; extensive experience in human
resource management including motivating, mentoring and coaching staff and
supervisors and a commitment to staff development. Preferred: Advanced
graduate degree; collection development experience; experience in working
with state and regional consortia; experience in library development, fund
raising and grant funding
