Business closing David Brautigam 19 Aug 2004 16:38 UTC

This message is being sent via SERIALST on behalf of a friend and
colleague who would like as many of us as possible in the world of
serials to know, so do pass this on to interested associates outside
SERIALSTwhich you know and who might be interested.

At the end of August 2004 Jerry Alper of AlperBooks.com, located in
Eastchester, NY, is closing his back issue periodical business. You
know the reasons why: electronic publishing and electronic storage
projects have turned topsy-turvy the world of printed back issue
periodicals.

On a personal note the closing of Jerry Alper's business makes me sad
because I have bought from him and sold to him and now the task of
replacing missing back issues becomes just a bit more difficult. Now his
business is going the way of the subscription agencies, bookstores, and
back issue dealers that exist only in fond memory. Beyond that, however,
I have only recently become aware of several informational products that
Jerry created earlier in his career and so we lose a creative mind in
that area as well.

If you would like to send your own electronic communication to Jerry
please try contacting him at
< jalper@alperbooks.com >.
