Julia,

We have added 856 links into our bib records for print with
electronic access and added holdings, but we used open ended
holdings statements and a generic note for the JSTOR titles with
moving walls. "Older issues available full
text via JSTOR" We felt we could not keep up with the changes on a
regular basis.

Yes, we think it is worth doing the extra work in cataloging for
the electronic access along with having an A-Z list. I really don't
know if patrons start with the databases or if once they know there
is a journal title they continue to use it. But we do know both
are used.

We have only cataloged the titles in packages or purchased
individually, not titles in databases.

Do you think that users will most likely look in an aggregate
database anyway for this sort of information, and that adding the
856 field to the bib record is a lot of extra work for not a lot of
gain?

If you use Ebsco as your subscription agent, you should be able to
use their EJS service, which should have your free-with-print
online journals. HOWEVER, we found way too many deadends -
sometimes you get dumped into publisher's websites with no clear
link - so we are not using it. They also include pay-per-view
titles which we really don't want to get into.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or you have info to make it
better/easier to use.

This is one of those areas I need help with; I have lost staff and
don't have the time to mess with the free-with-print, contacting
publishers to get them "turned on", doing licensing agreements,
etc. I hate not taking advantage of the free access.
