Schedule:  The workshop begins at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14
(registration will begin at 12:30 p.m.) and concludes at noon on Wednesday,
June 16.

Purpose and Overview:

This workshop, which will include copyright and legal information specific
to Canada, will:
1.      deepen participants' understanding of license terms and conditions
through several  hands-on license review exercises;
2.      help participants understand, evaluate, and minimize the risks in
licensing electronic resources;
3.      provide strategies to participants on how to protect their legal
and business interests when working with consortia; and
4.      review strategies for getting past no in difficult negotiations.
Topics covered will include:
         Risk Assessment  The Perspective of Licensees
         Risk Assessment  The Perspective of Licensors
         Working with Consortia
         Understanding Legal Language
         Legislative Update
         Pricing Models and Strategies
         Getting Past No

Optional group discussion sessions with the trainers will be offered on
Tuesday evening.  Session topics will be:
A.      Consortia
B.      Legal Issues
C.      Process and User Issues
Target Audience:

The workshop is open to librarians who have participated in ARL's License
Review and Negotiation workshop or who have had a minimum of 1 year's
experience reviewing and negotiating license agreements for their library
or consortium.
