Vacancy Announcement (Head, Technical Services)

University of Idaho Library, Moscow: Head, Technical Services. The
University of Idaho Library seeks a librarian with experience, vision,
and proven ability to serve as the Head, Technical Services
Department, a tenure-track, 12-month position. Reporting to the
Dean of Library Services, this person will manage traditional
services in acquisitions, cataloging, serials, binding/repair/marking,
and user services (the Periodicals Service Center), and envision
new services and applications. The head of this unit coordinates the
activities of three catalog library faculty members and supervises 14
support staff. This individual will be expected to work in a
collaborative, collegial environment as a member of the library
faculty and working with other library departments (Access Services,
Government Documents, Reference, and Special Collections).
Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute
to the overall scholarship, teaching, and service mission of the
university.

Qualifications:   (required)  MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited
program; 3-5 years minimum of increasingly responsible relevant
experience, preferably in a university environment; Record of
successful management and supervisory responsibility; Proficiency
with using a national bibliographic utility; Demonstration of
leadership potential; Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills; Record of scholarship sufficient to allow appointment at the
Associate Professor rank.
