PROJECT MUSE PUBLIC HEARING ON PRICING MODELS AT ALA MIDWINTER MEETING
A few seats are still available for Project MUSE's public hearing on
proposed new pricing models on Saturday, January 10, during the ALA
Midwinter Meeting in San Diego. In fall 2003, Project MUSE conducted
an open bid process and selected two consultants to assist us in
developing new pricing models for 2005 and reviewing them with our
customers and participating publishers. We are pleased to utilize
the expertise of October Ivins and Judy Luther, who are both
librarians with extensive serials backgrounds and experience with
journal publishers.
We invite you to join your colleagues, our consultants, and us at the
hearing, where a continental breakfast will be provided. It will be
at the U.S. Grant Hotel (326 Broadway), Garden Room, from 8:00 to
9:00 am on Saturday, January 10th. If you plan to attend, RSVP to
melanie@muse.jhu.edu. For planning purposes, please note the number
of representatives you expect to have attending from your institution.
Other Opportunities for Your Feedback
Also at ALA Midwinter, Aileen McHugh, Judy Luther or October Ivins
will be available to discuss your reactions to the pricing models in
the Project MUSE booth, number 1752. At least one of them will be
there according to this schedule:
Saturday, Jan. 10th 11:00 am -12:30 pm, 2:00-4:00 pm
Sunday, Jan. 11th 9:30 -11:30 am, 1:30-4:30 pm
Monday, Jan. 12th 9:30 -11:00 am, noon to 2:00 pm
The consultants will also conduct two focus groups at ALA (an
invitation to apply was sent separately). During January they will
conduct a web-based survey of Project MUSE subscribers and potential
subscribers on this topic. We also welcome feedback and comments via
email at muse@muse.jhu.edu as we conduct this important process.
