Please mark your conference calendar for a panel presentation on:
"Not the Big Deal: Business Models from Smaller Publishers"
Sponsored by the ALCTS SS Journal Costs in Libraries Discussion Group
Day: Saturday
Date: January 10
Time: 2-4pm
Place: Manchester Grand Hyatt
Room: Manchester H
We are priviledged to have the following speakers:
Andrea Lopez, Site License and Online Sales Manager, Annual Reviews
Aileen M. McHugh, Director of Electronic Publishing, The Johns Hopkins
University Press (Project Muse)
Steve Moss, Vice President, Institute of Physics Publishing
When I invited the speakers, I posed the following questions:
How do you effectively compete, both for sales to customers and content
from authors, in a marketplace dominated by 3 or 4 megapublishers? How
would you describe your publishing and marketing philosophies, and how
do these inform (or drive) your pricing and business models? What
added-value does your organization bring to the publishing process that
perhaps cannot or are not provided by the megapublishers?
A (very) short information and business meeting will follow the
presentations and Q&A periods.
Hope to see you there!
