POSITION TITLE: Information Scientist - Content Manager for Electronic
Resources
EMPLOYER: Bristol-Myers Squibb, Co., Lawrenceville, New Jersey
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Content Integration & Access (CIA) team within
Knowledge Integration Resources (KIR) at BMS is responsible for the BMS
virtual library, managing the acquisition process for electronic resources
including license negotiation for external content, the online library
system, collection development, and other KIR web site maintenance. The
Content Manager for Electronic Resources will be responsible for providing
leadership and expertise in the evaluation, selection, promotion and
accessibility of a wide range of electronic resources and the collection and
analysis of
usage statistics.
DUTIES AND RESPONBILITIES:
* Coordinate various aspects of acquisition and implementation
of electronic resources, including identifying vendors, establishing
database trials, evaluating purchase options, and reviewing and managing
license information.
* Collect and analyze electronic resource usage statistics.
* Troubleshoot e-resource access problems working with
internal clients and/or vendors to solve issues.
* Act as go-to person in KIR for e-resource issues.
* Assure new resources are added to Cybrary.
* Administer linking functionality.
* Communicate technical issues with any given resource to KIR
staff, user community and vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* 3 -5 years of professional experience preferably in the
operation and management of electronic resources, including licensing, and
negotiating.
* Experience with link-resolver applications, specifically
SFX.
* Knowledge of copyright and licensing issues.
* Familiarity with current and emerging content-linking and
authentication standards including: OpenURL, DOI, Z39.50.
* Prior Collection Development or Acquisitions experience.
* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal
skills.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
* Experience with data collection and analysis.
* Experience writing reports with a relational database,
desirable.
* Flexibility to work with multiple assignments and
priorities.
* Ability to adapt to rapid change and to exercise creativity
and initiative.
* Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
* M.L.S, M.S. in Library Science or equivalent degree
