We allow students and faculty to have 15 items per semester at no charge. We charge for more than that unless there are extenuating circumstances when approval for a higher amount may be granted at the discretion of the library director. We charge all other patrons - alumni, friends of the library, etc. Judith A. We have been mandated to cancel journals due to budget problems, so we expect that document delivery will increase. For us, it is cheaper to provide ILL than to pay for large numbers of expensive subscriptions. Since the demand is increasing. we are trying of ways to control requests and spending. What are other libraries doing ? Free DDS to all ? Free to faculty only ? How to put a ceiling for request and spending, by department ? by faculty member ? by student ? Are libraries charging a fee for DDS? a flat fee by request ? real cost fee for each request ? We are studying all options and badly need you kind input Many thanks Fatme Charafeddine Serials Librarian/University Libraries American University of Beirut P.O.
