URGENT: PROJECT MUSE SERVICE ALERT
Subscribers urged to access Muse at mirror site
(http://muse.uq.edu.au) during Hurricane Isabel
Project Muse's main servers are located at the Johns Hopkins
University in Baltimore, MD. As you may be aware, Baltimore is
currently in the path of Hurricane Isabel, with tropical storm
conditions including high winds and flood threats expected throughout
the afternoon of Thursday, September 18, and into Friday, September
19. Should the storm result in a loss of electrical power or network
service to the Johns Hopkins University or the Baltimore area, users
will not be able to access Muse on our main server at the URL
http://muse.jhu.edu. However, subscribers are reminded that we have a
mirror server located at the University of Queensland (Australia),
which will remain available regardless of conditions in Baltimore.
Subscribing libraries are encouraged to direct users to access Muse
at the mirror site, http://muse.uq.edu.au, if they experience any
difficulties with access at the usual URL over the next 3-4 days. If
service is interrupted due to the storm, a notice will be sent out
once service is restored following the weather event.
The Johns Hopkins University Press, which manages Project Muse, will
be closing today, September 18, at 12:00 noon EDT, and will remain
closed tomorrow, September 19, to ensure the safety of our employees
during the storm. Project Muse subscriber support will not be
available from noon today until the Press re-opens on Monday,
September 22 at 8:00 am EDT.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this
weather-related emergency.
