Cynthia:

I hope you will benefit from the information people are sharing about EBSCO
and other subscription agencies.

I just wanted to point out that there is a legal reason we have become EBSCO
customers. There was a document that my library and many former divineFaxon
customers signed. It came out of the lawsuit and the EBSCO buyout of
divine. We signed a "Prepaid Order Agreement." Publishers who signed the
same document agreed to give us the journals we had already paid for.
Libraries who signed it agreed to let the publishers have whatever refund
money was coming to us for those particular paid (and undelivered)
subscriptions when the lawsuit is resolved. We also automatically became
EBSCO customers, obligated to renew these particular subscriptions through
them, at least through 2004. It seems to make sense to me to use EBSCO now
and renew not only those titles affected by our signing the Prepaid Order
Agreement, but as many of our other titles as we can through them. Sorry, if
that's more information than you wanted!

Hi,

I am new in serials and have seen quite a few former Faxon customers chose
EBSCO as an alternative. Just curious to find out if it is because EBSCO is
an excellent subscription agent or because there just aren't that many
choices out there?

Can libraries using EBSCO share the reasons why they chose EBSCO as their
agent?

Thanks!
