WE don't remove them. We had to stop putting them in a few really thin
magazines, since the bindery had trouble with them gumming up their
machines.

Thanks to everyone who has responded with bindery
companies/experiences.
   One of our concerns has been having to remove our theft strips
(tattle
tapes) before we send our items to the bindery (unless they are a
certain distance from the edge of the journal).  This step is
laborious,
damaging (to the journals and to our fingers) and not something I had
been familiar with at other institutions.  If people wouldn't mind
responding directly to me if they have to do this or not I'd be
appreciative.
