I wonder if the old 80/20 rule applies here, i.e., 20% of all serials
get 80% of use. Seems to me there might be some lists of serials (by
subject field?) out there that would identify those serials, in general,
that are most likely to be of interest to your users. Not my bailiwick,
however, so cannot be more specific. kst

Hi,

Due to space limitation, we at University of the Pacific needs to split
our periodical collection in 3 different locations, namely periodical
shelves, compact shelving inside the library, and off-site long term
storage.

Besides using date (age of the publication) and usage statistics, I am
wondering if there are other criteria should be considered? I am also
interested in hearing from the other libraries regarding the acceptance
of library users.
