Subject: Working with LDRs

To catalogers and non-catalogers alike, this question is for anyone who
maintains their libraries union list holdings.

I am not a cataloger myself, but I maintain our libraries union list
holdings in OCLC. I am aware of the different methods for reporting
microform holdings in LDRs - one of those being that all formats of a
particular title are reported on the hardcopy record. I have not seen
this issue addressed in the new ANSI/NISO Z39.71 standards so I thought
I would query the list. Is it appropriate to use separate SCHDs for
each format of a title retained at a library (such as print, microform,
or electronic resource) if one uses the hardcopy to record all holdings
formats? If it is not appropriate, I would be curious to know why if
anyone knows the reason.

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Laura
