We have had paraprofessional staff working with e-journals for 2 years
now. Ordering (of packages) is done by acquisitions staff, but all
cataloging and maintenance is done by the serials unit (3-4
paraprofessionals and one original cataloger).

We verify access when cataloging and have just begun a plan to verify
access once a year (requesting a list from the publisher to get any new
titles and check what has changed. We use a holdings statement that
gives the oldest materials available at the time last viewed.
  EX: v.4 (1990)- (as of 02/2002).
Since things change so quickly and so few places send out
notification, we feel this is the best we can do right now.

Problems with access are routed to the Serials Manager as they are found
as no regular maintenance is done other than the once a year check.

Hope this helps.
