CONSER proposal re online journal records Jean L Hirons 03 Dec 2002 15:43 UTC

Dear colleagues,

As many of you will recall, CONSER posted a survey last summer
concerning the creation of records for electronic journals distributed
in multiple packages. Based on the results of that survey, I developed a
proposal, which I called "Option B+". This proposal was approved by the
CONSER members and in November by the Program for Cooperative
Cataloging's Policy Committee. The proposal includes the provision for
creating a single record for all online versions, cleaning up existing
records, and providing missing records and ISSN, as well as other tasks.
The complete proposal, including the names of CONSER members who will
work on the various tasks is now available on the CONSER Web site at:
http://www.loc.gov/acq/conser/optionbplusdec2002.html.

The discussion at the CONSER At Large meeting at ALA Midwinter will
focus on this topic. The meeting is an open meeting, not limited to
CONSER members. It will be held Sunday morning, 8:00-9:30 Loews Hotel,
Regency Ballroom C. I look forward to seeing many of you there for
what promises to be a lively discussion!
