This message is being cross-posted; pleased excuse the duplication.
Colleagues,
I'm happy to announce, on behalf of the Cataloging Distribution
Service, that the 2002 edition of the CONSER Cataloging Manual is now
available for purchase. This is a new edition, not a cumulated reprint.
We spent much of the past year reviewing all of the content to bring it
up to date with the changes in AACR2, as well as changes in CONSER
practice. There is a new chapter on Continuing Resources and many new
examples. The chapter on major/minor changes was completely revised and
will be very useful for those having to determine what constitutes a
major title change.
The print version may be purchased from CDS now. See the CDS Web site:
http:// www.loc.gov/cds/catman.html for complete information.
Unfortunately, the CCM will not be available on the Catalogers' Desktop
until early in 2003. We are currently working on a major update to the
CONSER Editing Guide which we hope to have ready for distribution by
late winter/early spring.
If you have questions about purchasing the CCM or other documentation,
please refer them to cdsinfo@loc.gov.
