Head, Acquisitions Department (UC San Diego)

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Libraries, one of the
nation's top ranked academic research libraries, seek an accomplished,
innovative, and proactive Head of Acquisitions to lead and manage a team
of 26 highly skilled staff responsible for the provision of acquisitions
services to the UCSD Libraries and the California Digital Library.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years' experience in an
academic library acquisitions or collection development role; successful
supervisory experience with commitment to mentoring, training and staff
development; evidence of innovative leadership; experience with
negotiating license agreements for digital content; familiarity with
vendors of library materials (both serial and monograph); familiarity
with issues, trends and operational needs of library acquisitions
processes; demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and to
foster teamwork; superior organizational, analytical, and communication
skills; and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in technical
services.

In addition to a technologically innovative and stimulating
environment, the UCSD Libraries offer a highly competitive compensation
package. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience based on published UC pay scales + an additional $250/month
