I received the following reply to my e-mail to New Statesman, pointing out to them that both Sep 30 and Oct 7 were given no.4607, and that numbers since have each been one behind what they should be. I asked whether they were going to skip a number at some point or continue consecutively from here, and said I'd post their reply to this list.
Dear Lynne,
Thank you for your e-mail which has been fowarded to me.
You are quite correct to point out that the numbering was not corrected after the initial mistake made when the production manager was on leave.
The sequence will be moved on two (to 4613) with the issue dated 18th November so that the sequence will be correct once again.
Thank you for offering to put this on SERIALIST, it is more than we deserve .
best wishes,
Stephen Brasher

Thanks, Stephen!
