POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Texas A & M University � Kingsville, a part of the Texas  A & M University
System and a majority Hispanic state-supported institution, seeks a dynamic
Serials Librarian responsible for acquisition, cataloging, and processing of
serials in print and electronic formats. Manages ordering, receiving,
binding, fiscal control, and cataloging of serial publications; evaluates
licensing agreements; participates in vendor selection. Reports to Director
of Technical Services.

REQUIRES: accredited ALA-MLS or MLIS degree; Knowledge of current trends in
serials control, especially electronic journal publishing;
Experience in Technical Services in an academic or special library;
Effective written and interpersonal communication skills; Demonstrated
ability to work collaboratively on team projects.

DESIRED: Experience with acquisition, cataloging, and processing of serials
in all formats; Experience in cataloging and processing government
documents; Experience with negotiating vendor/aggregate contracts and
licenses for electronic journals and databases;  Knowledge of copyright
issues on electronic library resources; Supervisory experience of Technical
Services personnel; Experience with Innovative Interfaces.
