Minot State University invites applications for the position of Serials Librarian in
a medium size academic library. The primary responsibility is overseeing the
activities of the Serials Unit which encompasses both journals and serials titles,
and includes supervising the unit's personnel. Duties include implementing and
updating the serials subsystem in the library's online catalog.; planning and
coordinating additions and deletions to the collection, making regular assessment of
their usage; cataloguing new serial titles; and being involved in the migration to a
new integrated system in the new future. Additional duties include regular scheduled
hours at the library's reference desk and collection development responsibilities.
The city of Minot (population 38,000) is a pleasant, safe community with a high
quality of life, and affords more cultural and recreational opportunities than might
be expected for a town its size.
Qualifications: MLS from a ALA accredited program and preferably three years
professional library experience, in serials, in academic setting. Salary: minimum
$32,000. Benefits: Blue Cross/ Blue Shield health coverage, TIAA/CREF retirement.
