We date/propertystamp the first page of the table of contents.  Using the TOC
helps 1)support verification of issue-specific data, 2) the ink usually dries
quicker because the paper is more porous, and 3) stamps don't smear when
stacked/piled/rubbed against other journals.  We use Sanford's roll-on stamp pad
inkers which are inexpensive and dry pretty quickly.
