Under the auspices of the national Cooperative Online
Serials Program (CONSER), the Serials Cataloging
Cooperative Training Program (SCCTP) provides
authoritative training materials and broad-based
expertise in serials cataloging. Our trained serials
experts to enable broad-ranging education in the field
of serials cataloging.
This workshop is designed as a hands-on training
course for cataloging electronic serials distributed
through the Web. It is based on the Anglo-American
Cataloging Rules (AACR2), 2002 Revised Edition to be
published in August 2002. It incorporates key
revisions of chapter 9, Electronic Resources and
chapter 12 Continuing Resources that apply to
electronic serials. Participants will gain practical
experience in cataloging e-serials using the newly
revised Chapters 9 and 12. They will also have
opportunities to discuss problems specific to online
serials and to share ideas.
The workshop is presented in six sessions:
Introduction,
Cataloging an online serial,
Aggregations and packages,
Online versions,
Changes that effect cataloging,
Case studies
Audience
The Workshop is designed for all levels of serials
catalogers and technicians, and monograph catalogers
