CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY invites applications for the position of Serials
Librarian. Seeks dynamic, creative librarian responsible for the
acquisition, cataloging, and processing of serials in all formats, including
electronic journals. Manages ordering, receiving, binding, fiscal control,
and cataloging of serial publications; evaluates license agreements for
electronic journal subscriptions; participates in vendor selection and
evaluation; supervises assigned staff and student assistants; participates
in setting policies for Technical Services; assists in general reference;
reports to Head of Technical Services.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS and two years academic library experience, as
a paraprofessional and/or professional. Previous serials cataloging
experience, particularly electronic resources. Knowledge of OCLC and
serials cataloging practices and trends in access to digital information.
Experience working with a major automated system, preferably SIRSI. Ability
to work creatively in a rapidly changing serials environment. Knowledge of
at least one foreign language desirable. Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills.
