Offered under the auspices of the LC/CONSER Serials Cataloging Cooperative
Training Program (SCCTP), the authoritative source for serials training, the
serial holdings workshop focuses on the standard for MARC21 compliant holdings
modules and the related standard for serials holdings statements. The workshop
includes many opportunities to create, review, and discuss holdings records for
typical as well as complex situations. The main focus will be on publication
patterns, library functions supported by holdings data (e.g. holdings data
management, checkin, bindery, etc.), and implementation/conversion issues.

Who Should Attend:
1. Those who are working with an automated system that uses MARC21 for Holdings
Data (MFHD) -for serials checkin and holdings maintenance. Most systems either
mandate this or make it an option.
2. Those who set up and or maintain and troubleshoot MARC21 for Holdings
options in an automated system.
3. Those who are, or are going to be, involved in evaluating a MFHD for
Holdings compliant system.
4. Those who are already working with a MFHD based serials control module but
need to know more about the holdings-related functions and options.
